 EXPLANATION TEXT

Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social, scientific and cultural phenomena. Explanation text is to say ‘why’ and ‘how’ of the forming of the phenomena. It is often found in science, geography and history text books.

Generic Structure of Explanation Text

– General statement

   General statement; stating the phenomenon ssues which are to be explained.

– Sequenced of explanation

   Sequenced explanation; stating a series of       steps which explain the phenomena.

Purpose of Explanation Text

– Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social, scientific, and cultural       phenomena.

– To explain how or why something happens.

Language Features of Explanation Text

In an explanation text, there are linguistic features as below :

– Using simple present tense

– Using abstract noun (no visible noun)

– Using Passive voice

– Using Action verbs

– Containing explanation of the process ..

How does Rain Happen?

Rain is the primary source of fresh water for most areas of the world, providing suitable conditions for diverse ecosystems, as well as water for hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation.

The phenomenon of rain is actually a water circle. The concept of the water cycle involves the sun heating the Earth’s surface water and causing the surface water to evaporate. The water vapor rises into the Earth’s atmosphere. The water in the atmosphere cools and condenses into liquid droplets. The droplets grow until they are heavy and fall to the earth as precipitation which can be in the form of rain or snow.

However, not all rain reaches the surface. Some evaporates while falling through dry air. This is called virga, a phenomenon which is often seen in hot, dry desert regions.

How Chocolate is Made

Have we wondered how we get chocolate from? Well this time we will enter the amazing world of chocolate so we can understand exactly we are eating.

Chocolate starts a tree called cacao tree. This tree grows in equatorial regions, especially in place such as South America, Africa, and Indonesia. The cacao tree produces a fruit about the size of a small pine apple. In side the fruits are the tree’s seeds. They are also known as coco beans.

Next, the beans are fermented for about a week, dried in the sun. After that they are shipped to the chocolate maker. The chocolate maker starts processing by roasting the beans to bring out the flavour. Different beans from different places have different qualities and flavour. So they are often shorted and blended to produce a distinctive mix.

The next process is winnowing. The roasted beans are winnowed to remove the meat nib of the cacao bean from its shell. Then the nibs are blended. The blended nibs are grounded to make it liquid. The liquid is called chocolate liquor. It tastes bitter.

All seeds contain some amount of fat and cacao beans are not different. However, cacao beans are half fat, which is why they ground nibs from liquid. It is pure bitter chocolate.

One day i booked a plane ticket online togo to japan. Ticket prices for Indonesia to Japan are around 6 million. I left for Japan on December 25th.

before departure I prepared things for Japan. after preparing my things to shower and eat first. at 22.00 WIB ordered a taxi to go to the airport, when I arrived at the airport I immediately went to the cashier to ask about the flight this time. after that I queued in the waiting room, a few moments later I headed to the toilet to urinate. some time after urinating at 22.30 WIB I entered the plane, on the plane I looked for number A.48. after meeting me immediately lifted my suitcase onto my seat. my seat is located on the right side of the plane, while flying I saw a beautiful view, but I fell asleep around 23.12 WIB. when I woke up, I checked the time on my cellphone and it was already 04.00, after I woke up from sleep I immediately took a drink in the place provided, after drinking I played on my cellphone while waiting for the plane to get off. finally I landed in Japan, I immediately dropped my luggage. Definition

The concept of tense in English is a method that we use to refer to time-past, present, and future. Many languages use tense to talk about time. Other languages have no concept of tense at all, but of course they can still talk about time, using different methods. (https://www.englishclub.com). 

Tenses Type

The standard tense in English is the present tense, which is usually just the root form of the verb. However, for each of the past, present, and future tenses, there are different aspects that add additional details.

1. Past, Present, and Future Tense

The past, present, and future are the central divisions of time in English. The present represents actions happening now, while the past represents actions that happened earlier, and the future describes actions that will happen later.

2. Simple Tense

The simple tense is a grammatical aspect that refers to the normal forms of the past, present, and future tenses. Simple tenses are the easiest to form and have the fewest rules.

3. Perfect Tense

It's used for actions that relate to other points in time, either completed or ongoing. The perfect tenses use a conjugation of the auxiliary verb have with the past participle of the main verb.

4. Continuous Tense

It's used for ongoing or actions that happen a while before completion. The continuous tense use a conjugation of the auxiliary verb be along with the main verb's present participle, or -ing form.

5. Perfect Continuous Tense

It's typically used just like the perfect tense, except it describes ongoing actions that happen over a period of time. The perfect continuous tense uses a conjugation of the auxiliary verb have, the auxiliary verb been (the past participle of be), and the present participle of the main verb.

Formula of Tenses

There are actually many formulas for tense, but I only attach formulas for simple tense, namely, simple past, simple future and simple present.

1. Simple present

• Affirmative: Subject + Base form(V1)+"s/es" for third person +object                      Examples: I take my meals at night. It rains in winter.

• Negative: Subject + do/does not + base form(V1) + object                                    Example: I do not take my meals at night. It does not rain in winter.

• Interrogative: Do/does + subject + base form (V1) + object + ?                                      Example: Do I take my meals at              night? Does it rain in winter?

2. Simple past

• Affirmative:Subject + Past Simple(V2) + object                                                        Example: I watered the plants. The chef cooked the meal.

Personal recount

A personal recount is what’s most likely to be covered in school. This type of recount writing is all about the writer’s recollection of a particular event or experience. It includes things like diary writing, but it’s also what we do whenever we tell someone a story about something that happened to us.

Factual recount

A factual recount includes things like newspaper reports. The purpose of a factual recount is to inform (rather than entertain) the reader about a particular event. Because of this, adverbs and adjectives are less important. You’ll often see facts and figures in this kind of recount writing.

Imaginative recount

This kind of recount writing applies factual knowledge of an event to create a fictional account of that event. The purpose of an imaginative recount is to help the reader understand an event by providing a fictional recount that’s as true-to-life as possible. They’re perfect for creative writing lessons.

Procedural recount

Procedural recounts aren’t very common in English lessons - they’re more for scientists. In fact, they’re most often used to describe an experiment so that it can be replicated by others. Because of this, the language needs to be exact. Procedural recounts might not even involve the use of full sentences.

Literary recount

This kind of recount writing is all about entertainment. They can be about fictional or real events and involve real or fictional characters. For an interesting writing challenge, why not try exploring a fictional event with real characters, and vice versa.?

Yesterday, my family and I went to the National Zoo and Aquarium to visit the new Snow Cubs and the other animals. In the morning, when we got to the Zoo and Aquarium there was a big big line, so we had to wait a while to get in.

After we entered the zoo, we went straight to the enclosure for the Snow Cubs. My brother and I were so excited to see them. They were so cute and playful. At lunchtime Dad decided to cook a bbq. He cooked sausages so we could have sausage sandwiches. My Mom forgot the tomato sauce so we had to eat them plain. In the afternoon, we visited the aquarium. My brother was excited to see the sharks and the tropical fish. At the end of the day when we left we were going to go and get ice cream but we decided we were too tired so we drove straight home, but of course I was very happy.

Apa itu decriptive text? 

Descriptive text dibagi menjadi tiga yaitu:

1. Understanding Description Text:

Description text contains a description of a certain 

a. object 

b. place or 

c. event 

so that the reader can 

a. feel

b. see

c. smell

d. hear 

     2. The generic tructure of descritif text is:

There are 3 descriptive text structures, namely 

a. identification

b. section descriptions

c. conclusions/impressions

     3. The sentences used in descritive text are:

detailed sentences or sentences that aim to detail or explain an object to make it more concrete and clarify sensory impressions for readers

 

     4. Sample of descriptive text

The Cow

   Cows are very useful to mankind, in supplying them with milk from which both butter and cheese are made. Their young ones are called calves, and the flesh of calves is veal. A good Cow will give about fifteen or more quarts of milk a day, but much depends upon the quality of the pasture she feeds upon. Her age is told by her horns; after she is three years old a ring is formed every year at the root of the horn, so that by counting the number of circles, her age may be exactly known. Cows are sometimes prettily marked with black, brown, and yellow spots, and, as they lie scattered about a green meadow, add much to the charms of a landscape.

My room is my favorite place in my house (identification).

   My room is in second floor, next to my big sister’s room. My room is painted light grey. There is big bed inside my room where I sleep every day. I put some pictures on my desk. There are my family picture, my picture with my friends, and my pictures with my pet, Luna, a persian cat. I also have drawers where I put all my clothes inside. My room is not big, but it is the best place in my house for me (description).

School libray

   The prayer room at my school is quite large. The location in my prayer room is also strategic because it is in the middle of the school. Beside the prayer room there is a place for ablution which is quite clean. In the middle of the prayer room there is a cloth that covers the prayer area for men and women. There is a Koran in the mosque

Books for lessons

    The books that I like are the books "IPAS", "B.INGGRIS", "PKN", "RELIGION". I like the book "IPAS". The books are white in color and the size of the book is large, 20×30cm. "B.INGGRIS" because there are two books, one small thick and the other large thin. "PKN" because the cover of the book is dark green with a picture of an eagle. "RELIGION OF ISLAM" because the book is white in color with a picture of two people cleaning up the environment
